Frames of Practice - Winston Reynolds
Ferus Animi // Terra Nova
Workshop —7th & 8th of March, 2026
-
This workshop attempts to examine a framework of ideas which our practice can be built on. We will follow two main lines of enquiry.
The first focuses on fine tuning of movement through athletic, somatic and artistic practices. How we move, resolve and adapt in response to various physical and creative situations. Here, we visit acrobatics (Microbatics), improvisation, games, tactical work, locomotion, strategic tasks, fighting and open dialogue. Through these situations we expand and build deeper awareness around our strength, dexterity, agility, blind spots, mobility & elasticity as well as all the other elements that branch out from these starting points. Ingrained in this, we also develop our fluency of questioning and reflective processes.
We will be investigating and cultivating our focus and attention, calming the inner world and developing awareness and strategies to readjust in response to the pull of today’s endless stream of input. In this way searching for a way back to a clearer/cleaner perspective.
The second line of enquiry explores the entrance into creation & performance.
The creation refers to the development of new acrobatic forms, improvisational textures, movement sequences and partnering elements.
In this context performance refers to elements of human connection. How we respond to being observed and in dialogue with the other? How is our practice informed by the proximity and energy offered by a shared environment of practice? What do we uncover through touch?
This work is not necessarily oriented towards only performative artists, its simply investigating the process of binding and weaving together various textures, forms, athletic maneuvers into a more personalized orchestration and style.
I’ve personally experienced that the combination of athletic and performative practices holds a certain liminal essence and it’s in this direction I wish to explore alongside you. They exist together.

My journey into a more intentional practice began at 16, sparked by a curiosity of how we explore different interfaces, surfaces and contexts using our physical capacity. the ability to transform thought into action. Acrobatics acted as an entry point, later expanded & refined through formal studies at Circomedia and ACAPA: Fontys, Academy of Circus & Performance Arts, where I specialized in physical theatre, acrobatic dance, and partnering During this process, improvisation became an important element which I carried with me throughout. A sort of physical journaling. The work of Martin Kilvady has been vitally important here.
Since then, I’ve built a teaching practice which is still in development and rooted in research. My time has seen me engage with various artists and companies across Europe, including Alexander Vantournhout, Yoann Bourgeois, Fernando Melo and Kalle Nio.
Parallel to this, I’m part of Ferus animi // terra nova, a collective bridging science and art.
Choreographically I worked with Gothenburg Opera, ballet akadmien, and engage as a movement specialist for film, theatre and exhibitions globally.through disciplines like neuroscience, biomechanics, and philosophy, exploring practices in the context of nature. Alongside Lewis Cooke I formed the company BMP (brussels movement practice) which is currently active in Brussels.
At the core of my practice lies a wish to connect, to offer a space where movement becomes a shared inquiry into effort, expression, and presence. And continue examining the idea of how to live a good life.

MoveLab -
Virgil Spier
Workshop — Last Friday of the Month , 2026
-
MoveLab is a monthly research lab for Movement nerds, teachers, and fanatics who want to go all in on The Movement Approach. In a small group we dive deep not into routines, but into the principles, questions, and ideas behind what we do.
Guided by Virgil Spier, each month we explore a new theme. We move, discuss, and investigate together the why behind our practice. This isn’t a passive workshop, but a shared exploration where research, play, and experience meet.
We’ll deconstruct the fundamental pillars of movement and teaching, uncover the often unseen skills that build an antifragile practice, and question the philosophy of Movement itself: is there a unifying approach that connects all disciplines?
MoveLab is not for profit, but for curiosity and collective growth. It’s a space where teachers become students and students become teachers.
Each month brings new exercises, games, questions, and assignments designed to help you grow as a mover, teacher, and student. Guest teachers regularly join to share their perspectives. Expect a playful, curious, and collaborative atmosphere.
